    Relationship counselling

Are you having problems in your relationship? Do you find that you're not feeling the same way about each other as you used to? Do you wish you could re-establish the special relationship you once had?

If the answer is yes, then that in itself is a good sign that that it may not be too late to save your relationship.

Assoc. Counselling Services specialises in providing relationship counselling to couples that need a little help to get to the root of their problems and find a way forward to happiness. If you feel your relationship is under strain, it's important that any issues are addressed sooner rather later as time can make a situation irreparable.

    Relationship counselling approach

Initially, we see couples together (or individually if preferred) so we can understand a bit about the relationship and any relevant history, as well as to try and identify the underlying problem beneath your difficulties. The purpose of the session is not to determine fault or to allocate blame. Assoc. Counselling Services are here to help and will never be judgemental.

Subsequent sessions cover general counselling with an emphasis on developing communication skills to effectively tackle and manage difficulties in your relationship. You will have access to a library of CDs and written material covering topics that will help to improve your relationship.

As with many of our treatments, if you are committed to improving the relationship and finding happiness, then we are confident that our counselling service can help you to be successful.

As well as general counselling to resolve difficulties and improve your relationship, we also provide individual therapy to help people with specific problems that may be contributing to difficulties in the relationship. For example, alcoholism, gambling, anger, sexual problems, excessive spending, inability to show affection, and coping with the aftermath of an affair can all be issues that need professional help. Assoc. Counselling Services can provide treatment to deal with them all.

    Separation Counselling

If your relationship has irretrievably broken down, professional separation counselling and mediation can help to avoid on-going bitterness, resent and anger. In the event of an acrimonious breakup, separation counselling can also help to avoid debilitating financial difficulties and costly legal fees. Expert and impartial separation counselling becomes especially important where children are involved.

Assoc. Counselling Services offers special separation counselling sessions to help find amicable solutions in the most difficult of circumstances.

    Medicare/Private Health funds

Under some circumstances, you may be eligible for a Medicare or private health fund rebate for your counselling sessions. You may also be eligible for financial assistance if you have been a victim of crime or have taken out an intervention order. Please call our friendly team for more information.
